My Sister Started a Blog!

My beautiful, smart, amazing sister recently started her own blog!  She blogs about Christian lifestyle, music, piano, book and movie reviews, and all things lovely according to Philippians 4:8.  Go check it out!  Her web address is www.gracefullyelisabeth.blogspot.com or click here.

A Bookmark for My Mom

I had the joy of making this sweet bookmark for my mom recently.  One of my mom's friends cleaned out her crafting supplies and gave me the pattern and supplies for this bookmark.  The scalloped edging is darling and the colors are so calming.  This sweet bookmark is now ready to dutifully save the place in her books!

Pincushion

As a gift earlier this year, I made this pincushion for my Mom.  It's made with wool yarn, so it's good for the pins to "reside" in.

This is what it looks like from the top without pins.  It has 4 rings altogether, each with alternating colors.

Side view.....

And this is what it looks like from the bottom.

Have a great day!

Christmas Stockings......

For this Christmas, I made everyone in my family new stockings to use.  In addition to these shown, I made a few more to hang on the railing of our stairs.  They look so festive!

This is the stocking that I made for my sister, Elisabeth.  She picked out the fabrics herself.  They make me think of the Victorian time period.  So delicate and pretty!

This is the stocking I made for my brother, Ethan.  He picked out the fabric for it.  He LOVES animals.

This is the stocking that I made for my Dad.  I think the little snowmen on it are too cute!

This is the stocking I made for my Mom.  The fabrics she picked out for this stocking also remind me of the Victorian era.

This is the stocking for my youngest brother, Ean.  He loves it!

And finally this is the one I made for myself.  I love the fabrics!

Have a great day!

A Soap Cozy......

I made this soap cozy for a neighbor recently, using light blue cotton yarn, and this pattern.  I have made lots of soap cozies from this pattern over the years to give to friends, family, and neighbors. What's neat about most soap cozies, like this one, is that you leave the bar of soap in it, and take it in the shower/bath with you.  The cotton yarn is soft, but has a little bit of a roughness to it, which serves as an exfoliator.  Very neat!

Have a great day!

Most Delicious Chocolate Chip Banana Bread In The World...........

This is my family's favorite banana bread recipe.  It's too good not to share!

Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees.  And grease a bread pan.

In a large bowl combine 1/2 cup butter, softened, and 3/4 cup sugar (I used sucanat, which is an unrefined sugar, but you can use any kind of sugar you want).  Blend it until it's light and fluffy.

Next mash up two medium sized bananas.

Then measure out 1/2 cup of sour cream or unsweetened/plain yogurt.  Add the banana and sour cream/yogurt to the mix and blend well.

Add 2 cups all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1 tsp. baking soda and mix it up.

Blend it well.

Next add about 3/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and blend them in.  You can use more or less depending on how chocolate-y you want your bread.

Put the dough in your greased (and floured if you want) pan and stick it in the oven for approx. 55-65 min. or until a toothpick inserted in the center of it comes out clean.  Cool for 15 min. then take the bread out of the pan.

The last thing left to do is enjoy!

Have a great day!

A New Outfit For Dolly

I recently made this new outfit for a 18" doll.  It has three pieces: a shirt, jeans, and a scarf.

I experimented with the different settings on the camera, and this is what came out.  The colors POP!

Here are the jeans.  I used a Pixie Faire pattern found here.  I love this pattern and have made many pairs of jeans using it.

I used my mom's sewing machine to do some decorative stitching on the pockets.....

And the shirt was made with the free Tank Top pattern, also from Pixie Faire.

Have a great day!

Bookmarks......

This Christmas, I crocheted two of these bookmarks for my Mom.  I used a free pattern I found on Ravelry.  I used size 10 cotton crochet thread, a size 6 steel crochet hook, and some pink scrap ribbon.  They came out really pretty!  They look very delicate and elegant.  I'm thinking about making some for my Bible too!

Here's a picture of both of the bookmarks together.  If interested, you can find the pattern here.  I hope to be posting more pictures of items I made as gifts for Christmas very soon.

Have a great day!

At The End Of The Rainbow..........

We've had rain practically everyday for what seems like weeks now.  Two of my siblings were playing outside.  They came running in saying "There's a rainbow outside!"  So I ran and got the camera and snapped a picture.

God's creation is beautiful!

Have a great day!

Valentines Day!!!

My brother, sister and I made some Valentine's Day crafts that our Aunt Missy sent us.

This is a lady bug bookmark. We can almost always use a bookmark since we read all the time.

These are some heart shaped magnets that we decorated. We can always use some cute magnets.

And we actually made this on Valentine's Day!!! When we woke up it was snowing, two hours later we made a snowman!!! There is nobody standing next to him but he's about four feet tall. Although he didn't have a face or scarf or anything. Poor snowman. But what a Valentine's Day surprise that was!!!

Have a gtreat day!!!

Snow Day!!!

This morning my brother came into the girls room yelling "it's snowing!!!" and woke us up.

And so when I got out of bed (finally) I saw that it had snowed a good inch!!! He was right!!! But that was just the beginning. It snowed HUGE snowflakes for about an hour after that. So this is what we ended up with. At least 3 inches of snow. I told Ean this morning that this was his 5th or 6th snow. (he is only 7 months old). It is not usual for it to snow where we live. And we still have that snow!!! All the schools are closed and some of the roads are closed. Where is the snow plow that is supposed to be plowing our road?
